About the Event
Join the Redmond Historical Society for a virtual presentation by Patricia Raynor, a museum specialist and loan coordinator at the National Postal Museum.
Ms. Raynor will explore the unique history of New Deal Post Office murals by examining thematic elements of several post office murals in the Pacific Northwest and reflecting on how these pieces were tied to the history, industry, and values of the hosting communities.
These impressive works were commissioned by the Treasury Department’s Section of Fine Arts for federal buildings. Not only did local communities benefit aesthetically from this program, it also gave artists meaningful employment during and after the Great Depression.
