The Redmond Historical Society hosted its first annual Membership Celebration on January 14, 2017 at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. We welcomed three new Lifetime members: M. Sharon Freeman, Ballisty (left), Subhadra Terhanian (right) and Betty L. Emmanuel (not pictured).

President Joe Townsend outlined the Society’s 2017 Action Plan, setting the top priorities: identify potential sites for Society facilities; philanthropy and fundraising; collections; programs; membership growth; and IT infrastructure and website.

The keynote speaker was Deputy Parks Director Rachel Van Winkle, who addressed the plight of Redmond’s community centers. Four of these facilities—Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, Old Firehouse Teen Center, Redmond Senior Center, and Hartman Pool—are aging and in need of repairs.

VP of Finance John Oftebro presented the Society’s financial report for 2016-2017, and considered ways to increase revenue, through membership, grants and general fundraising.

Philanthropy Chair Debra Pelletier outlined what the future might look like, suggesting an annual fundraising event, donor solicitation, a major gifting program, planned giving, and a membership campaign.

As a thank you to members and volunteers, attendees received a gift bag and a 2017 calendar, highlighting photos from the Society archives. Attendees also received a member satisfaction survey and a list of volunteer opportunities, from open Board positions to coffee setup for the Saturday Speaker Series.

Thank you to all who attended!
